Vampire Survivors Online FAQ

What is online play in Vampire Survivors?

Online play lets you connect with friends over the internet and play co-op runs together, instead of being limited to local couch co-op. The gameplay remains the same - you pick your survivor, fight the hordes, and unlock content, but now each player is free to roam independently rather than being tied to one shared screen.

How many players can join an online game?

Up to four players can play together in one session, just like couch co-op.

Does couch co-op and online co-op exist side-by-side?

No. Online co-op and couch co-op are separate modes, and you can only use one or the other in a given session.

Can couch co-op and online be played simultaneously off one console?

No. Each online player needs their own device and copy of the game to connect.

Is online play free or does it require a subscription/service?

Online play is free on poncle’s side. On consoles, you may need the standard online subscription service for your platform (e.g. Xbox Live, PlayStation Plus, Nintendo Switch Online). Online play is not available on mobile at launch.

Do I need to own any DLC to play online with friends?

No, DLC is not required to use online play. But in order to access DLC content together, everyone in the session must own the relevant DLC pack.

How do I start an online game?

From the main menu, select “Online” and choose to host or join a game. If you host, you’ll see a room code in the top corner of the screen that you can share with friends so they can join.

Can I invite friends directly, or is there matchmaking? Can only friends join?

There’s no random matchmaking - you’ll only ever play with people you know. On Xbox, you can use platform-level invites. On other platforms, you’ll share a room code with friends to join.

Which platforms support online play?

Online is available on PC and consoles where Vampire Survivors is supported. It is not available on mobile at launch.

Is cross-play available between PC and consoles?

No. Cross-play is not supported.

Is the progression shared or individual in online co-op?

Each player can only use characters they’ve unlocked on their own save. During the run, pickups, gold, and achievements are collected as a group. At the end of the run, each player chooses whether or not to save that progress to their own file.

How are characters, weapons, and unlocks handled in multiplayer?

You select from the characters and unlocks available on your own save. The host’s save determines which stages and items are available. Any unlocks achieved during the run can be saved to your own file if you choose to accept them.

Will enemies scale depending on the number of players?

No.

If someone disconnects/lose connection, what happens to the game?

If the host disconnects, the session ends for everyone. If a client disconnects, their weapons are redistributed to the remaining players and the run continues. Disconnected players can’t rejoin mid-run but can join again once the run has finished.

Is there voice/text chat in online mode?

No. Online play doesn’t include built-in voice or text chat. Players can use their platform’s party chat or other services to communicate.

Are there parental controls or safety features for online play?

Online play is invite-only, and there are no additional parental control features beyond those already provided by your platform.

Will there be updates or new features for online play?

Yes. Online co-op is new to Vampire Survivors, and like our other updates, we plan to refine and expand it over time based on feedback.
